The First Lady of Burundi, Her Excellency Angeline Ndayishimiye, received in audience, this February 4, 2021, the UNAIDS Country Director in Burundi, Mr. Abdoul Karim Ben Wahab. During this courtesy visit, the two high personalities discussed the collaboration between UNAIDS and the institution of the First Lady, especially in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The UNAIDS Country Director congratulated Her Excellency the First Lady for her achievements, in such a short time in this position, and especially the meetings she organized for young people and women leaders by sensitizing them to adopt a good behavior and on the economic empowerment of Burundian girls and women.

In turn, Her Excellency the First Lady of Burundi thanked UNAIDS for its support to the country in the merciless fight against HIV/AIDS. She said that even if the contamination rate of new has considerably decreased, the fight against this scourge must continue in order to achieve the goal of zero infections, by 2030 as scheduled.
